So youve been made an OP, great right? it's not all fun and games, there are some ground rules to follow that will be outlined here within this post so listen up .
First off i'd like to congratulate you for making the operator position, and point out that your role is similar to a "secret agent" or "spy" if you will.
As an operator you do not get a tag on the scoreboard next to your name the way admins do, while some may view this as a downside, it is a plus in that you can more easily keep track of suspected trolls without alerting them to your actions. Operators are expected to help enforce the rules and regulations of the server as well as follow those same rules themselves
As an operator you have the power to Kick, Ban, Teleport, slap, and see admin chat. Please do not abuse your powers or it may lead to your removal from the operator position. While this should be a no-brainer, please dont let your personal emotions or like/dislike of an individual affect your judgement when dealing with others try and remain calm and collected and make unbiased decisions. If you are EVER unsure of what to do, please look to an Admin or SuperAdmin for advice it should be pretty easy to get a hold of one of us on steam. If youre an operator and have not yet added all of the Admin / SuperAdmin staff to your friends list, i encourage you to do so.
You are expected to respect the decisions made by SuperAdmins or Admins if they intervene in any situation.
If you have a problem with another staff member, or decision made by an Admin, Please bring it to the attention of a SuperAdmin for review.
When it comes to dealing with unruly users, please try to inform them of their actions and warn them first before resorting to use of your powers. A good model to follow is the 3-strike rule
> Warn the user first, and inform them of what they are doing wrong if possible
> Kick the user if the continue to break the rules
> Ban the user if they continue to break the rules after being kicked and having returned
> If you do have to put in a ban for a user, please try to enter as best a reason as possible into the "reason" box before you hit the ban button. If you fail to do so, please get in contact with an admin or superadmin so that we may change the ban in the system and add a reason to it. if you fail to add a valid reason to a ban, expect to be contacted by a superadmin and be ready to give the reason for the ban
Although some users may seem like they do not deserve such, this is to keep it fair for everyone and ensure that those who actually want to be at small horse are given a chance to do so. If you think someone may be trolling by asking many questions, it could be that they are a new user, or new to Gmod and are genuinely having trouble with the server and seeing things properly so please keep this in mind. Not every "human" that shows up on our server is here to do wrong.
Operators are not expected to deal with every problem or situation that may arise on the server. you are here to supplement our admin staff and help keep small horse a happy fun place for all to hang out. And once again, if you are ever unsure of what to do in a given situation, please get in contact with an Admin or SuperAdmin
